Year by year, track by track

In 2004 I started making a playlist of songs that resonated anytime during that calendar year, a tradition I’ve carried on since. These playlists are time capsules. Each song is tied to a version of me. Together, they map the chapters of my life in a way words never quite could (some people journal, I make playlists ¯\_(ツ)_/¯).

Music has always been inseparable from my creative process. I’m almost never designing in silence. Many of these songs are tethered to client work, late nights, big ideas, and moments of creative flow. They’re the tracks that pulled me out of a block, set the emotional tone I was translating into visuals, or gave me the momentum to push something across the finish line.

Back in my mixtape days, the curation was usually for someone else. These are different. These were made for just me, but just maybe you’ll like em too (if you’re an eclectic music junkie and have Apple Music) because, IMHO, they’re really damn good.
